We’ve just received the results from Rogers Stadium’s first season — and the impact is big.
Since opening in June 2025 at YZD (the former Downsview Airport Lands), the new outdoor music venue has quickly become a major gathering place for fans and a meaningful boost for the local economy. A new study by Nordicity shows just how far that impact reached.
In its inaugural season, Rogers Stadium welcomed more than 700,000 fans across 14 concerts. Those events generated over $500 million in economic activity for Toronto and the province. That includes $388 million in GDP, $115 million in tax revenue, and support for the equivalent of more than 3,000 full‑time jobs. These jobs spanned hospitality, production crews, transportation, security, and dozens of local suppliers — highlighting how many people and businesses are involved in bringing live music to life.
Neighbourhood businesses felt the lift too. Local favourites like Cocoon Coffee saw sales rise by as much as 20% on concert days, thanks to the steady flow of fans exploring the area before and after shows. Restaurants, hotels, rideshare drivers, and nearby attractions all benefited from the increased activity.
City leaders say these results show why large‑scale venues matter. They help attract visitors, support small businesses, and keep Toronto competitive as a destination for major tours and global entertainment.
Rogers Stadium will reopen for its 2026 season on May 23, starting with five sold‑out Bruno Mars concerts and a full summer lineup still to come.
As the venue continues to grow, so will its role in supporting jobs, local businesses, and the ongoing revitalization of the Downsview area — proving that live music doesn’t just bring people together; it strengthens the community around it.
